When Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds sold out the Beacon Theater in 1999, it seemed unlikely that the band would ever play such a small venue. In fact, Dave mentioned during the 1999 concert that they would not likely return to the intimate venue. According to the New York Times, Dave Matthews Band will play the Beacon Theater on June 1st, 2009 to promote the release of their latest record, titled; Big Whiskey and the Groogrux King. Both the title and album itself pay tribute to the memory and absence of Leroi Moore who passed away on August 19, 2008.
